My Roses!

I believe I never mentioned that I am now a correspondence sponsor in addition to sponsoring 2 Compassion kids!  This is Rose (8) from Haiti.

And I sponsor Rose (17) also from Haiti

I thought it was pretty cool that when I requested a correspondence child (the younger Rose), she happened to have the same first name as the one I already sponsor.  I am also super excited for when I get a new picture of Tamirat.  He has 5 more months in the program.

  3. What does it cost to sponsor a child... And what do the sponsored children receive?

  4. Glad you asked!!
It's $38 a month. Of my 3 kids, Rose I and Tamirat are the ones I sponsor financially (my younger Rose is a correspondence sponsorship, meaning someone else sponsors her [possibly a corporation], but cannot write her, so I do--Compassion is big on forging relationships)

    Sponsorship covers:

    Ongoing Christian training
    Educational opportunities
Treatment and training to maintain child health
Development of self-confidence and social skills
Key life skills and vocational programs

  6. Hello friend. Quick note once again to make sure of your status...meaning are you still alive? So, have there been blue whales in your area? I'm a bit obsessed with whales, and I can't believe I have jumped in my car and gone the few hours it would take to see the largest and most amazing creatures in the world while they are near the CA coast. Anyways, I thought about jumping in my car last Sat and trying to get ahold of you to see if you wanted to go whale watching with me :) Sorry to say it didn't happen...but maybe someday!

  8. I try to go whale watching every year, but there usually aren't blue whales along our coast (so I've never seen one)...I guess the water has been colder than usual, so for a while they were seeing up to like 100 blue whales a day, but now the season is pretty much past, and who knows if and when the blue ones will be back ;(
