Today I got a letter from Tamirat, to the sponsor "whom I love". I was just thinking this morning that I need to write that boy, then lo and behold, sometime during the week, a letter came from him. A Christmas letter. My 3rd letter
He thanked me for the gift I sent. He purchased shoes and a shirt with the money. He told me he is in Sunday school and vocational school.
I still do not know much about him, as I have not been his sponsor very long. He is 21 (just 3 months younger than I!), so he will not be in the program much longer.
It just a short letter, but the last he wrote was a request that I pray for his father, who has been sick. And so I ask that you who read this pray too. I know not what the illness is, but Tamirat thought it necessary to ask his me to pray.
I love him. I've seen one picture of him, and received just 3 short letters. But God saw it fit that I, in my affluence, be joined to this young man in his poverty. I feel 'off' saying that, but I know not what else I could say.
(to follow, a rant on affluence)
